“His musical mastery and contagious cheerfulness are a reminder of how thrilling the guitar can be… His concerts are surprising musical journeys.”

“Home is a return to essentials, an intimate stopover, an anchor point.
Home — a word that is almost untranslatable — evokes at once the house, the hearth, our origins. It is what we leave behind and what we return to. It is this warmth, this inhabited silence, this inner light that I sought to translate into music.
This project was born in Normandy — a place that is far more than just a landscape: it is where I live, where I breathe, where I find myself. It was therefore only natural that the magnificent beach of Cabourg should appear on this record, through the eye of my dear friend and wonderful photographer Pierre Steffan-Morlet.
It was also in Normandy, at the Beffroi of Dives-sur-Mer, in this familiar and peaceful atmosphere, that the recording of this album took place.
Home reflects a personal musical journey. A mosaic of memories and tributes.
Each piece is a fragment of my world. From Chopin and Schumann, whose music my mother played on the piano when I was a child, to the unforgettable sounds of Sor and Ponce, which I discovered through Alexandre Lagoya.
The recent arrival of my first child also led me toward interpreting works that are more tender and poetic — a way of welcoming him into this world with gentleness and dreams.
Influences intertwine freely here, like the shifting colors of a Norman sky: Spain and Latin America, the breath of the great classical masters, popular tenderness, the magic of cinema. Each piece is an echo, a breath, a way of inhabiting the world through music.
Home is an inner house.
A place without walls, made of emotion and sharing.
I hope you will find within it a little of your own refuge.”**

At just 14 years old, Emmanuel Rossfelder became the youngest guitarist ever admitted to Alexandre Lagoya’s class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Between master and student a special bond was forged, nurtured by an approach centered on a distinctive right-hand technique developed by Lagoya together with Ida Presti. Emmanuel went on to earn two unanimous First Prizes — in guitar and in chamber music.
“Emmanuel brings to the guitar a powerful sound, virtuosity, emotion, and imagination that already make him a great artist.”
Alexandre Lagoya
At the age of 20, he won First Prize at the FMAJI competition, as well as the Pierre Salvi Special Prize. Further distinctions soon followed: laureate of the Fondation Groupe Banque Populaire (1998), Classica Discovery (2001), Classical Revelation of ADAMI (2002), and in 2004, a Victoires de la Musique Classique award in the category Instrumental Soloist Revelation.
Since then, Emmanuel Rossfelder has explored all the riches of the guitar on major stages in France and abroad — in recital, on tour, and in master classes from Japan to Brazil, from the United States to Africa. He has also appeared as a soloist with prestigious orchestras — Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de France, the Operas of Marseille and Avignon, Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Orchestra della Toscana, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Baltic Chamber Orchestra, among others — under the direction of conductors such as Roberto Benzi, Arie Van Beek, and Charles Ansbacher.
His discography reflects his eclecticism: after recording the great concertos of Joaquín Rodrigo and a wide selection of the solo guitar repertoire, he created Carnets de voyage, an album of original transcriptions bringing together the Modigliani Quartet, soprano Raquel Camarinha, and bandoneonist Víctor Villena. More recently, he released Home, a return to essentials, featuring twenty pieces that have shaped his musical journey — from Chopin to Schumann, from Sor to Ponce, alongside lullabies and two world-premiere works by Christophe Julien and José Pavli.
Alongside his international career, Emmanuel Rossfelder also shares his passion as a professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
